Slieve League Cliffs Elopement

Multi-day adventure elopement around Galway, Donegal and the Slieve League Cliffs (Sliabh Liag)

From the moment McKenna and John, who came to Ireland all the way from the US, told me about their dream of a Slieve League cliffs elopement, I was absolutely hooked. Because believe me – this part of the Wild Atlantic Way is nothing but breathtaking. So the Sliabh Liag cliffs, where we ended up planning their sunset vows, were the perfect highlight to end this incredible adventure elopement with.

It all began two days before though, with a ceremony in Merlin Park in Galway (celebrant: Mary O’Donovan), where their closest friends and family got to join them as well. Our timeline for that day was quite short though, so immediately afterwards, we all simply headed to The Quays Bar & Restaurant for some drinks and food.

Dreaming of your own elopement in Ireland?

Let’s make it happen:

From epic waterfalls to sandy beaches, scenic valleys, and dramatic cliffs

You might already know that elopement planning comes with all of my elopement packages in Europe, but planning this one was especially fun. So for this second part of their Slieve League Cliffs elopement in Ireland, much further north than the first day, we were in for a treat.

After some beautiful getting ready photos in Lough Eske Castle, we headed west to an amazing waterfall near Maghera Beach. We followed the road out of the nearby village, went up the hill, and found ourselves on top of a stunning valley. Photos in the rain were high up McKenna’s bucket list, and while the rest of day was surprisingly sunny (especially for April in Ireland), we managed to get those in too.

Following the Wild Atlantic Way to Silver Strand, and making a lunch stop in an amazing pub along the way, finally led us to the Slieve League cliffs – one of the highest sea cliffs in Europe (and actually 3x higher than the Cliffs of Moher).

We couldn’t have dreamed of anything better. With literally no one else around, they had the entire cliffs to themselves, and at the spot I had scouted the day before, they got to say their vows with one of the most stunning backdrops I have ever seen.
